How to Connect WhatsApp Business
WhatsApp & MessagingConnect WhatsApp Business in UpBlick when you want customer messages to be sent from your own business number instead of the shared UpBlick WhatsApp option. This setup is useful when your business wants a more direct branded messaging identity.
Before you connect WhatsApp Business
- Select the correct business location.
- Decide which business number should be used for customer messaging.
- Make sure your team understands that customer-facing WhatsApp messages will come from your own business number.
- Prepare message templates for review requests, reminders, or follow-ups.
- Collect customer consent before sending WhatsApp messages after setup.
Step 1: Open the Channels page
- Open Automation from the sidebar.
- Select Channels.
- Open the WhatsApp tab.
This page shows both the shared UpBlick option and the option to connect your own WhatsApp Business number.
Step 2: Choose Your own WhatsApp No
On the WhatsApp tab, review the Your own WhatsApp No card. This option is intended for businesses that want to:
- Send messages from their own WhatsApp Business number.
- Use their own business branding in the messaging experience.
- Keep the customer-facing WhatsApp identity tied closely to their business.
Step 3: Select Connect Now
Select Connect Now on the Your own WhatsApp No card and follow the connection flow shown inside UpBlick.
The exact connection steps can vary depending on the account and number being connected, but the goal is the same: finish the business number connection until the channel displays a connected state.
Step 4: Confirm the connection status
After the connection flow is complete, return to Automation > Channels > WhatsApp and confirm that Your own WhatsApp No shows Connected.
If the card still shows Not Connected, the connection was not completed successfully and you should retry the flow.
Step 5: Activate the templates you plan to use
A connected channel alone is not enough. Your team should also prepare the templates needed for messaging workflows.
- Open Automation > WhatsApp Templates.
- Select the message type you need, such as Review Request.
- Review the template language and approval status.
- Make the approved template active.
Step 6: Test the business channel
Before using the connected channel with customers, test the setup with a safe internal workflow or another permitted test contact. Confirm that:
- The business number remains connected.
- The correct location is selected.
- The intended template is active.
- The message flow opens the right UpBlick experience.
When to choose your own business number
- You want customer messages to come from your own business number.
- You want a more direct branded WhatsApp experience.
- Your team prefers a dedicated business-owned messaging identity.
- You want to avoid using the shared UpBlick WhatsApp option for ongoing messaging.
Best practices
- Connect one location first and test before rolling out more broadly.
- Make sure the whole team knows which WhatsApp channel is active.
- Use approved templates that match the message purpose.
- Keep customer phone details accurate.
- Check consent before sending any WhatsApp communication.
- Retest after changing numbers, templates, or location settings.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the shared UpBlick number and my own business number?
The shared UpBlick number is designed for faster setup. Your own business number gives your business a more direct WhatsApp identity for customer messaging.
Can I use my business number right after it connects?
You should also confirm that the correct templates are approved and active, the right location is selected, and customer consent is in place before sending messages.
Do I still need templates after connecting my business number?
Yes. Connecting the number prepares the channel, and templates prepare the actual messages your team will send through it.
