How Many Review Reminders Should You Send?
AutomationFor most businesses, one or two review reminders are enough. A reminder can help a customer who intended to respond but became busy, while too many messages can feel intrusive and may lead to opt-outs.
Recommended starting point
Begin with one reminder. If many customers still miss the request, test a second reminder after allowing additional time. Reserve a third reminder for customer journeys where a longer follow-up period is appropriate.
| Number of reminders | When it may be appropriate | Guidance |
|---|---|---|
| 0 | The original request is time-sensitive, or the customer has asked not to receive follow-ups. | Disable every reminder step. |
| 1 | A single gentle follow-up is suitable for most customer journeys. | This is the best place to start. |
| 2 | Customers may need more time, and the first reminder still leaves many requests unanswered. | Space the second message farther from the first. |
| 3 | The customer relationship and consent support a longer follow-up sequence. | Make the third message a clear, polite final reminder. |
| 4 | An exceptional workflow requires another follow-up and repeated contact remains appropriate. | Use cautiously. UpBlick currently reuses the active 3rd Reminder WhatsApp template for this step. |
How long should you wait between reminders?
There is no single schedule that fits every business. Give the customer enough time to see and act on the previous message. A practical schedule to test is:
- Send the first reminder 2–3 days after the original request.
- If needed, send a second reminder 5–7 days after the original request.
- If a third reminder is appropriate, send it 10–14 days after the original request and treat it as the final follow-up.
These are suggested starting points, not fixed UpBlick requirements. Adjust the cadence for your service cycle, customer expectations, consent, and applicable messaging rules.
Understand UpBlick’s default schedule
A new location starts with the following reminder settings:
- 1st Reminder: enabled after 1 day.
- 2nd Reminder: enabled after 3 days.
- 3rd Reminder: enabled after 5 days.
- 4th Reminder: disabled, with a 7-day delay if enabled.
Review these defaults before starting your campaign. Disable any step you do not want to use, and change the timing if your customers need more space between messages.
Configure how many reminders UpBlick sends
- Select the required business location.
- Open Reviews in the sidebar.
- Select Review Settings.
- Open Reminder Settings.
- Enable only the reminder steps you want to send.
- Enter a value from 1 to 365 under Send after days for each enabled step.
- Confirm that the enabled day values increase from one reminder to the next.
- Select Save Changes.
Use a different message at each stage
A reminder should not look like an unexplained duplicate of the original request. Under Automation > WhatsApp Templates, review the template for each enabled reminder:
- 1st Reminder: use a brief, helpful follow-up.
- 2nd Reminder: acknowledge that the customer may have been busy.
- 3rd Reminder: clearly present it as the final reminder.
Make sure the preferred template is approved and marked Active Template. The current automatic reminder workflow applies to eligible WhatsApp review requests.
How to decide whether to reduce reminders
Use Reviews > Review Requests to monitor request progress. Consider reducing the number or increasing the spacing when:
- Most reviews arrive after the original request or first reminder.
- Later reminders produce few additional completed reviews.
- Customers opt out or report that messages are too frequent.
- The reminder sequence no longer matches the customer journey.
Responsible reminder practices
- Send requests only to customers with a genuine experience of the selected business.
- Ask for honest feedback; do not ask for a specific rating or only contact customers likely to leave positive reviews.
- Do not offer payment, discounts, free goods, or other incentives for reviews.
- Use the customer’s consented channel and respect opt-outs immediately.
- Keep each reminder short and make the business identity clear.
- Stop following up when UpBlick records the completed review journey.

Troubleshooting
Frequently asked questions
Is sending more reminders always better?
No. Additional reminders may recover a few missed responses, but repeated contact can also frustrate customers. Measure the value of each step and keep only the useful ones.
What is the maximum number of reminders in UpBlick?
You can configure up to four reminder steps for each location.
Does UpBlick send all enabled reminders at once?
No. Each reminder becomes due after its configured number of days from the original request. If several steps are already overdue, UpBlick processes the next unsent eligible step first.
Should I use the default 1-, 3-, and 5-day schedule?
Review it before use. It is the product default, but your business may benefit from fewer reminders or longer spacing.
Will reminders stop after a customer submits a review?
UpBlick stops future reminders when it records a qualifying submitted or completed review for that review journey.
